16 -18 September 2024 – BIPM Sèvres (France)

The meeting will be organized as a hybrid event and will offer both onsite participation at the BIPM Headquarters in Sèvres, France, as well as virtual attendance options.

Welcome to the 1st Stakeholder Meeting of the CIPM Sectorial Task Group on Climate Change and Environment.
The Task Group has been established to provide a global focal point for metrology activities related to climate change and environment.
Abstracts for presentations/posters are invited that address progress on recommendations or new initiatives since the BIPM-WMO Workshop on Metrology for Climate Action (2022), and fall into one of the following themes:
  • Metrology in support of the physical science basis of climate change and climate observations
  • Metrology as an integral component of operational systems to estimate greenhouse gas emissions based on accurate measurements and analyses.
Recommendations of the BIPM-WMO 2022 workshop are documented in the workshop report.

  • Identification of the organizations, committees and groups that are coordinating activities to address recommendations from the BIPM-WMO 2022 workshop;
  • Identification of the recommendations from the BIPM-WMO 2022 workshop where no activity has been initiated and reasons why it has not been done.
  • An overview of new collaborative activities initiated between the Observation and Metrology communities
  • Identification of new initiatives that could be progressed through collaborative actions between the Observation and Metrology communities, and the groups that could coordinate this work
  • Identification of any new actions to be undertaken by the CIPM-STG-CENV, with a focus on those actions that cannot be addressed by existing structures, which would enable progress to be made in addressing the BIPM-WMO 2022 workshop recommendations and new initiatives.
